Page 10 - August 22, 2006 New Brighton Council Minutes Council member Doffmg stated it was her intention to have the City Attorney larify the process. he City Attorney suggested starting the process the begirming of 2007 if the intent as to hold an election in 2007. ouncil Member Hoffman suggested to direct staff to look into this. Council Member Bauman stated she is not in favor of changing the election, and a savings of $ 13,000 is not significant, additionally she is opposed to the other council members gaining an extra year. Council Member Bauman stated this issue has been discussed at great length, and didn't feel staff needed to look into this any further; it is her thought that this is the forum to decide the outcome. There was extensive discussion. Council Member Bauman stated that the possibility exists for the three of them to withdraw the $13,000 from the budget; the result would be no election in 2007. Council Member Burg again stated her discontent with the implications, her recollection was to further discuss the options during the budget. Commission Liaison Reports. Announcements. and Updates Municipal Advisory Commission Reports: Council Member Mary Burl! - Public Safetv Commission ,UbliC Safety was awarded a grant for a CERT Trailer for emergency responses. IPS continue to collect donations for Project Lifesaver. Citizens Police Academy will be starting September 21 st. Public Safety is having a blood drive Wednesday, September 6th from 1:00-6:00pm Council Member Burg attended a North Metro Mayors Association event where Governor Pawlenty was speaking regarding transportation issues. Council Member Ann Hoffman - Parks. Recreation. and Environmental Commission Council Member Hoffman expressed appreciation to Officer Hyland, Emerson, Sypneiwski and Sergeant Kaiser for their life saving efforts in a friends need for assistance. Council Member Sharon Doffin!! - Plannine: Commission Council Member Doffing will be spending time at the State Fair offering information at the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivors booth. Questions were raised about past request for explanation of various change orders over the year. Appreciation was expressed for a very informative work session relating to employee health insurance. Council Member Gina Bauman - Economic Development Commission louncil Member Bauman suggested that the budget meetings are replayed on hannel16, preferably at times of day when viewing is most favorable. s. Troha clarified that the meetings are replayed at all times including the afternoon. Mavor Larson Mayor expressed gratitude for all the volunteers involved in a successful Stockyard Days event.
