Practice range at Brightwood Hills Golf Course
Ken Manthis, Golf Operations Manager, presented the Commission with the
possibility of opening a practice area at the Brightwood Hills Golf Course. The
practice area would fill a void in New Brighton, and surrounding area, left when
Brighton Crossroads Driving Range closed. It could also enhance the junior golf
program. The area is currently used for grass clippings. It is basically a waste
area. There is a 150 year old tree which will be saved. The buckthorn in the area
would be removed. The construction cost is about $5,000. Revenue would be
about $20,000 for users and $12,000 for lessons. There is money budgeted for
this. There may also be a chance to receive some grant money for this project.
The Commission was in agreement of the proposal.

MOTION BY BUDZINSKI, SECONDED BY GREACEN, THAT KEN'S
PRESENTATION WAS ABOVE PAR AND WE AGREE WITH WHAT IS
PROPOSED FOR BRlGHTWOOD HILLS.
