~

.,

This is not only for aesthetics but also to help eliminate odor and sludge in the
pond. Cost for the fountain is estimated about $5,000. About half of the funds .
have been raised. Manthis supports this endeavor.

Breuer, said she understands that this Commission has had some long meetings
because of the Strategic Plan. Breuer stated that she and Commissioner Heinrich
have met to see if these meetings can be kept to 1 hour or 1 12 .

B. Hansen Park Shelter RFP's
Breuer stated 6 bids have been received. After bids were opened, it was
determined that staff needed to take a closer look at structural placement. Weare
planning to re-bid this project in the early part of 2007 so that the contractor can
install in the spring of 2007. Two issues determined this; one that it could take 12
weeks for delivery which would put installation in December, the second was
after talking with City Engineers, it was determined that soil borings would need
to be taken and staffwould like to look at Hansen Park as a big picture, a whole
park. Staff is recommending that we reject all bids and re-bid in early 2007.

Budzynski inquired if the money for the project would be available in 2007.
Breuer responded yes, because the money is coming from two sources; insurance
money and park dedication funds.

Barton asked if the location of the shelter is still being negotiated.

.

Breuer stated that the Facilities Manager is concerned that ifthe shelter is in a
separate location from the neighborhood center, it would not be able to
accommodate some of the large group rentals.

VII. Announcements
A.

12th Ave. Residents - update on parking
One of the residents is putting together a request which will go to the
City Council to request that the area in front of their homes be by permit
parking only. This issue is now in the hands of the Council and Public
Safety Dept as to whether or not they will approve it.

Greacen expressed concern about alcohol being allowed in the parks and
wanted to discuss the possibility or desirability of limiting or possibly
eliminating alcoholic beverages in Hansen Park specifically.

Budzynski stated that a year or two ago this whole issue was discussed
in regard to alcohol in the parks and in regard to the Golf Course. The
policy was agreed upon by Parks and Recreation and Council.

Knuth inquired if the efforts made with signage, etc. has made any
difference for the residents.

.

Breuer stated yes, at first. However, in time cars started parking in front
of residents homes again.

Page 2
