<br />Council Proceedings <br />City of New Brighton <br />June 27, 1974 <br /> <br />Mr. Loren'Allsup, 760 8th Avenue asked whether <br />there v7ere plans for upgrading of 8th Avenue N.W. <br />Mr. Leonard answered that upgrading of the 2venue <br />does not fall within the projection of the County <br />up to 1980. <br /> <br />Mr. Deloy Christopherson, 642 8th Avenue N.\~., <br />stated he felt the alternate plan was easier for <br />movement of trucks. <br /> <br />Mr. Juran felt the left turn on proposed intersection <br />would represent a problem for trucks and emergency <br />vehicles. <br /> <br />Mr. Harvey Rohling, 775 8th Avenue, questioned <br />whether the work to be done on 8th Avenue would be <br />the same regardless of the intersection plan <br />adopted. <br />Mr. L(''-;lard indicated that the tapering would be <br />very 5.ihlilar under both intersection plans. <br /> <br />Mr. Zimmerman asked how many stops would be on <br />each intersection. <br /> <br />Mr. Leonard stated that the alternate plan \'lould have <br />no stops on Old Highw?y 8, but that 8th Avenue would <br />be stopped and on the proposed plan there would be <br />a variety of possible stopping movements. <br /> <br />Motion by Rebelein, seconded by Anderson to close <br />hearing <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes- carried <br /> <br />Mayor Bromander asked Mr. Eickhoff and Mr. Clague <br />whether they would support Board action to approve <br />the necessary easements. They both indicated that <br />they would at no cost to the County. <br /> <br />Motion by Bromander, seconded by Rebelein to amend <br />resolution by adding the date of plans as <br />June 26,1974, by amending the location of the <br />project to read: 2nd Street N.W. and Minnesota <br />Transfer Railroad, by striking the word IIgenerally" <br />in the second ~~EREAS and by adding the condition <br />that alternate plan A2 providing an intersection <br />at 8th Avenue and Old Highway 8 allowing free flow <br />of traffic along old Highway 8 and to waive reading <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Close <br />Hearing <br />9:20 <br />
