SP86-009
,Printing Enterprises, Inc.

- 6 -

March 24, 1986

Adequate oversizing should be provided to allow placement of fill
wi thin an area defined by lines extending downward and outward
from the edges of the exterior footings to the bottom of the
excavation at a slope of 1-1/2:1. Based upon the data obtained
from these ten (10) penetration test borings, it appears that the
depth of potentially deleterious soil decreases toward the south
and the east. It appears that shifting the building location
eastward would significantly reduce the amount of excavation
required. Consideration could also be given to changing the
orientation of the proposed L-shaped building so that the area of
deep peat could be avoided. Additional borings should be per-
formed if the planned building location is to be moved.

Wi th the high ground water level on this si te, excavation will
I ikely require the use of a dragline or large backhoe. It may
not be possible to completely dewater the excavation prior to

lORlluuj
