<br />SP86-009 <br />,Printing Enterprises, Inc. <br /> <br />- 6 - <br /> <br />March 24, 1986 <br /> <br />Adequate oversizing should be provided to allow placement of fill <br />wi thin an area defined by lines extending downward and outward <br />from the edges of the exterior footings to the bottom of the <br />excavation at a slope of 1-1/2:1. Based upon the data obtained <br />from these ten (10) penetration test borings, it appears that the <br />depth of potentially deleterious soil decreases toward the south <br />and the east. It appears that shifting the building location <br />eastward would significantly reduce the amount of excavation <br />required. Consideration could also be given to changing the <br />orientation of the proposed L-shaped building so that the area of <br />deep peat could be avoided. Additional borings should be per- <br />formed if the planned building location is to be moved. <br /> <br />Wi th the high ground water level on this si te, excavation will <br />I ikely require the use of a dragline or large backhoe. It may <br />not be possible to completely dewater the excavation prior to <br /> <br />lORlluuj <br />
