....... .. ~ ..

ARMSTRONG, TORSETH, SKOLD AND
ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS
Memorandum No. 17
March 10, 1987
Page 2

R YDEEN, INC.

Project Number 86084
Re: Preliminary Review of Site
and Building Plan

5. The fire sprinkler was discussed. The Architect noted that the School
District is not adding any additional occupant load to the building but is
actually reducing the number of students per square foot of existing and
new building by this addition and that the fire sprinkler may not be
required. Ken stated that the area separation wall makes this addition an
entirely separate building and that Appendix E requires that any new
building over 8,500 sf be sprinklered. Ken will check with the State
Building Officials regarding interpretation of this automatic fire
sprinkler system requirement.

6. The Architect noted that during a previous telephone conversation with the
Fire Marshall, Mr. Goodwin, that an upgrading of the existing fire alarm
system would not be required if additional capacity would remain after the
addition is installed and connected to the existing fire alarm system. The
Architect stated that the existing fire alarm system will be up to capa-
city with the inclusion of this addition. The Architect asked if Ernie
would check with Mr. Goodwin about the possibility of allowing the system
to remain as is at this time and upgrade the system at a future date when
the system requires repair or another addition is costructed. Ernie will
talk with Mr. Goodwin about this.

7. The application for the Special Use Permit is to be provided to the City on
April 3, 1987. This application should include 16 sets of the preliminary
site plan, preliminary floor plan, survey, working drawing site plan and
the working drawing elevations with no'ces as to materials. Also included should
be the abstractors list of property owners within 350' of the building pro-
perty.

WWM/scg

cc: Tom Tapper
Ernie \i\atila
