Shea
Metro Metals, Inc.
4345 Lyndale Avenue North
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55412

Dear Mr. Shea:

In response to our discussion concerning the addition to
the office building of Atlas in New Brighton. I have pre-
pared the followinq tentative time table and I have en-
closed forms which might be of assistance to you.

The city Engineer has examined the old plans for the
original construction and has indicated that the public
road does not extend into the site. Therefore, it appears
that the office extension would protrude into the private
drive at the site. The old site plan delinates an area
45' wide running parallel with the Great Lakes Pipe Line
and it is my understanding that this is not a City of New
Brighton easement. I suggest that when a current survey
of the property is completed and a legal description of
the property is obtained you might be able to determine
why that area is delinatedon the site plan.. It is
important that this is resolved because the proposed
addition would extend into that area.

In general, your proposal will require a non-conforming use
permit and a building permit. The New Br~ghton Code states
that if a structure has Type IV non-conformities that prior
to the expansion of said structure the total number of non-
conformities must be reduced where practical.

After an examination of the site, the Type IV non-conformities
include: front yard parking in an industrial district, lack
of concrete curbing, lack of a dustless surface for drives
