, .

.'

LP-96
Page #2

.

Ramsey County Engineer has been contacted. There is some initial
concern with south bound traffic on Old Highway #8 entering this
site because of the number of lanes of traffic that have to be
crossed.

An aerial photo is attached to familiarize the Council with this
area and the street alignments. An initial response by the
County was that overall' this site will not cause a major traffic
problem. If this development is approved, the county will be
contacted to conduct a traffic study to determine the necessary
signage for the area.

Some suggestions of the County Engineer on a preliminary basis
involve the following items: -

1. The installation of a stop sign south of the
McDonald's driveway on th~ east side of Long Lake
Road. This would stop the traffic going north
and therefore alleviate the problems of cars
being stopped in between Old Highway #8 and Long'
Lake Road.
2~' Because of the semi-trucks that park along LOQg
Lake Road, the County Engieer noted that IINo
Parkingll signs should be considered along Long
Lake Road. This would alleviate the concern over
visibility of persons going in and out of the site.

PLANNING COMMISSION CONSIDERATION AND RECOMMENDATION

EXTRACT FROM MINUTES
BOARD OF REVIEW
REGULAR MEETING
NOV EMB ER,'20, 1979

Mike Assad~ representing McDonald's Corporation w~s present to
answer questions.

Staff reviewed the traffic concerns that might result from the
development.

Commissioner Lang voiced a concern that the County would be able
to reduce traffic congestion and insure safety of area residents.

Commissioner Williams stated that he realized that the traffic
problem would be reviewed by the respective engineers but he
was concerned about the amount of traffic in that area that
already exists and how the development would affect traffic in
the a re a .

Mr. Assad stated that he would work closely with the City and
County to solve any traffjc problems.
