<br />1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 14, 1991 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />City Engineer les Proper presented 10 bids for the Sunnyside Area Street <br />Reconstruction, Project 90~4. <br /> <br />The low bid of Midwest Asphalt Corp. is about 13% below the City's <br />construction estimate of $989,000. Midwest Asphalt performed the <br />1985 aide Town project which had problems with chipped curbing. <br />However, since that time the City changed their specifications and <br />Midwest has completed other City and county projects in a satisfactory <br />manner. <br /> <br />~~1 <br />City Manager Dave Childs presented a petition from neighbors in the <br />Valley View Lane area regarding an unusual land island with a tree. Staff <br />was directed to research the concerns and report back to Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Rebelein, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />AWARD THE BID FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 90-4, SUNNYSIDE AREA <br />STREET RECONSTRUCTION TO MIDWEST ASPHALT CORP. IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $856,173.85. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 1 Nayes (Gunderman), Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Proper presented a request to approve payment for easements for the 5th <br />Avenue NW Reconstruction, Project 89-13. <br /> <br />Offers were made to 17 property owners of temporary and permanent <br />easements required for the project. Fifteen have accepted the offers, but <br />completion of the easement documents are needed. One easement has <br />been placed in condemnation, and one has not yet accepted our offer. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Larson, to APPROVE PA YMENT FOR <br />EASEMENTS FOR 5TH AVENUE NW RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT 89-13, <br />EASEMENTS #1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 15, AND 17; AND AUTHORIZE <br />PAYMENT OF EASEMENTS #2, 6, 9,10,11, AND 16 ON SUBMISSION <br />OF THE FULLY EXECUTED EASEMENT DOCUMENTS. <br /> <br />5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Gunderman noted a typographical error on the staff report for the <br />resolution authorizing the renewal of general insurances. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by RebeJein, to WAIVE THE READING <br />AND ADOPT THE RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF <br />GENERAL INSURANCES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Award of Contract <br />for Sunnyside <br />Street Project <br />Report 91-115 <br />Resolution 91-54 <br /> <br />Payment for 5th <br />Avenue <br />Easements <br />Report 91~116 <br /> <br />Insurance Renewal <br />Report 91-108 <br />Resolution 91-48 <br />
