<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 13, 1990 <br /> <br />Page 1 2 <br /> <br />Announcements and Uodates. continued <br /> <br />Ramsey County League of Local Governments banquet is December 19. <br /> <br />A Council work session will be January 2. 5:00 p.m. to review boards and <br />commissions applications and the chairs will be in attendance. <br /> <br />The Northern Mayors Association have formally opposed the 610 Corridor <br />private toll road facility. <br /> <br />Gunderman suggested adult and senior participation in future Martin <br />Luther King essay contests. He suggested the work session include a <br />need assessment for a community facility. He added citizens should write <br />their representatives regarding the military involvement in the Gulf, <br /> <br />The City's Police Department Mission Committee will meet on December <br />12. The Economic Development Commission will meet on December 12. <br />Rebelein noted the excellent presentations at the National League of Cities <br />Conference, especially the presentation regarding mandates. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Rebelein, to RESCHEDULE THE <br />DECEMBER 25 COUNCIL MEETING TO DECEMBER 26, 1990,6:00 P.M. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Larson noted concern about the Powerhouse auction and feels the <br />windows and doors should be left intact for temporary meeting facilities. <br />Benke agrees the doors and windows should be left to secure the building. <br /> <br />Benke feels the upcoming Town Hall meeting should focus on broader <br />issues such as national and state demographic trends. He suggested <br />Minneapolis Mayor Donald Fraser as a guest speaker. <br /> <br />Childs noted recent mandates requiring Hepatitis B vaccinations for at.risk <br />employees, installation of additional seating in fire vehicles, and upgrading <br />of police statistical recordkeeping. All of these mandates will be very <br />expensive to implement. Childs will prepare a report for Council. <br /> <br />The State Auditor's annual community profile report illustrates New <br />Brighton's excellent performance in providing services to its citizens. <br /> <br />.......,_.0.-............
