<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />April 24, 1990 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Judy Grant, Ramsey County Charter Commission Coordinator, showed a <br />slide presentation of the Charter's education campaign. <br /> <br />Williams said the RCCLG has submitted the Charter to a Legislative <br />Committee and will research and make recommendations to Cities. <br /> <br />Ms. Grant stressed the importance of citizen involvement in the <br />upcoming election because under current legislation a "non" vote is <br />classified as a "no" vote. <br /> <br />Wi 11 i ams noted that the city is not endorsi ng the charter, but <br />merely encouraging residents to learn about the charter and go to <br />the polls and vote their conscience. <br /> <br />Moti on by Wi 11 i ams, seconded by Brandt, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT A RESOLUTION ENDORSING RAMSEY COUNTY CHARTER EDUCATION <br />CAMPAIGN FOR RESIDENTS OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Norris presented an addendum to Brighton Corporate Park Development <br />Agreement. <br /> <br />In March 1988, the City and Brighton Park Inc. (BPI) entered into <br />a development agreement, and in January 1990 the City notified BPI <br />of their default of this agreement. Because of the default, the <br />City cashed a $50,000 letter of credit from the developer. <br /> <br />BPI has located an interested party to purchase Lot 1 and build a <br />30,000 square foot facility, but the previous default has required <br />an amendment to the development agreement. <br /> <br />The amendment includes: reimbursement of the $11,000 payment to OSM <br />Engineering; negotiation of the tenant vacation on Lot 2 and <br />building demolition; and the application of the Measure Tech sale <br />proceeds to the mortgage principal, real estate taxes, closing and <br />contractor costs.
