<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 13, 1990 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Businesses with a large amount of exterior storage find that when <br />buildings and equipment located on their sites become outdated, they <br />must approach the City for permission to update their facilities. <br /> <br />An action plan would identify nonconforming uses and establish the <br />City's position regarding the desired future land use of an site. <br />A set of strategies or pol ieies pertaining to the expansion of <br />existing nonconforming use sites would not only prove valuable to <br />the Ci ty, but waul d also inform property owners of the Ci ty 1 s <br />position so they may plan accordingly. <br /> <br />The Council feels that redevelopment issues shoul d be approached <br />carefully because of the length of time involved to complete these <br />projects. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission would establish direction on how specific <br />sites may be developed and redeveloped over the next 10-20 years. <br />An 'action plan would provide the Planning Commission more authority <br />and control than relying on the existing zoning ordinance. <br /> <br />Council noted the importance of contacting the property owners of <br />the City's interest in developing such a plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Brandt, to DIRECT STAFF TO PREPARE <br />A LAND USE ACTION PLAN POLICY FOR REVIEW BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Non-Conforming Land <br />Use Plan <br />Report 90-60 <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates Announcement & Updates <br /> <br />Jim Andrews will be replacing Jeff Dehler as Video Producer. Meeting <br /> <br />The Chamber will be sponsoring meetings on March 16th and March 23rd Novak & Pellow Meetings <br />with Senator Steve Novak and Rep.
