Request for Additional
Water Supply
Proper will research this option. Report 89-279

Williams asked why Well 7 is not currently being treated by the PGAC
Facility. Proper said Well 7 is not being treated because it has
not exceeded contamination levels and is not part of the current
PGAC Facility Plan. Because of Well 7's location in the lower
aquifer, any increase in use of this well may cause more damage to
the aquifer and cause the contamination to spread.

Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC
WORKS DIRECTOR, THE CITY'S ENVIRONMENTAL COUNSEL, AND THE CITY'S
ENVIRONMENT CONSULTING ENGINEERS TO PURSUE ADDITIONAL WATER SUPPLY
CAPACITY UNDER THE TERMS OF THE LITSAG AND THE PGRS OPTION.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried

Childs noted that the City has received a letter from Barry Eliason, Lake Forest
2740 Forest Dale Road, concerning a sedimentation problem in Lake Sedimentation Problem
Forest. Report 89-270

Mr. El iason feel's recent construction projects and other run-off
problems are associated with the filling of Lake Forest. Mr.
El; ason has asked the City to take formal act; on to cl ean up the
1 ake.

Chi 1 ds noted that because of the 1 arge number of ponds in New
Brighton and the natural process which causes prairie lakes and
ponds to fill in --- this won't be the last request of this type.

Staff feels because of the large cost implications to the
homeowners, the general taxpayer or both, this situation should be
assigned to a commission for study.

Benke added that the previously addressed Lake Diane situation
placed the responsibility upon the lakeshore homeowner. Benke feels
this current problem should be referred to a commission in order to
define the issues and identify appropriate actions.
