Streets Rehabilitation Projects <br />9:34-9:35 p.m. <br /> <br />Proper said the project consists of curb and sidewalk repair, <br />surface milling, and bituminous overlaying. The M.S.A. streets <br />involved in the project are: Mississippi Street between Stinson <br />Boulevard and Long Lake Road; 14th Street NW between Silver Lake <br />Road and Long Lake Road; 5th Street NW between Stinson Boulevard and <br />Old Highway 8; and Foss Road between the west City limits and Old <br />Highway 8. <br /> <br />The project also includes widening a short piece of Mississippi <br />Street between Thornda 1 e Avenue and Long Lake Road and uti 1 i ty <br />system repairs. The utility system repairs include insulating <br />shallow water services on 5th Street NW and the replacement of a <br />defective section of sanitary sewer on 14th Street and 17th Avenue <br />NW. <br /> <br />The M.S.A. Street Rehabilitation project is proposed to be paid for <br />from a combination of M.S.A. funds and special assessments. Water <br />and sewer utility funds will be used for the utility system repairs. <br /> <br />Included with the M.S.A. Street Rehabilitation contract was a new <br />sidewalk on 5th Street NW between Stinson Boulevard and Silver Lake <br />Road, Project 88-20, and a pipeline crossing under 5th Street NW <br />for the permanent granular activated carbon water treatment plant. <br />The 5th Street s i dewa 1 k wi 11 be tota 11 y funded by M. S . A. and the <br />P.G.A.C. pipeline crossing will be paid for by the Army. <br /> <br />Residents along M.S.A. Streets are special assessed for 25% of the <br />project cost of an equivalent standard 32 foot street. The project <br />cost of the equivalent 32 foot street is $230,865.81. 25% of the <br />total project costs of the equivalent standard 32 foot street is <br />$57,716.45. Dividing this amount by a total of 19,168.18 feet of <br />assessab 1 e frontage on the streets in Proj ect 88-18 yi e 1 ds an <br />assessment rate of $3_01 per front foot. <br /> <br />The majori ty of the street rehabi 1 itati on construction costs on <br />Project 88-18 plus an additional amount for engineering is eligible <br />for M.S.A. reimbursement.
