MEMO
To: Mayor and City Council Members
From: Erny Mattila, City Planner
Subject: Nutec Construction - Mr. Rod Bernu
Date: September 18, 1997
On August 26, 1997, the City Council continued consideration of the Nutec proposal (LP-327,
NC-108, PL-236 & VN-315) to the September 23, 1997 City Council meeting. The Council
required the applicant to bring any changes to the site plan to the Planning Commission. The
Council further requested staff to work with the applicant and owner of the smaller parcel to
perhaps facilitate a private purchase of the smaller parcel.
Since August 26, City staff and the applicant have had limited contact. The applicant's present
development application will reach the 60 day time limit on October 1, 1997. Staff was able to
contact the applicant and presented three options to the applicant regarding his development
proposal: 1) He withdraw his application, 2) He submit a letter waiving the 60 day time
limitation for the City of New Brighton, or 3) staff would forward a recommendation of denial to
the City Council for his development application. The applicant has submitted a letter waiving
the 60 day time limitation (See attached letter).
Staff will continue to update the City Council on the status of this application.
