<br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 8, 1989 <br /> <br />--r <br /> <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates Announcements & Updates <br /> <br />Judy Goepel, President, Antique Car Run, presented a proclamation Antique Car Run Events <br />signed by Governor Rudy Perpich proclaiming August 21-27, 1989, <br />Anti que Car Week in Mi nnesota. The New London to New Bri ghton <br />Antique Car Run will be held on August 26-27, 1989, and is just one <br />of many events bei ng held that weekend. The car run has grown <br />tremendously in the past three years from 17 cars in 1988 to 43 cars <br />registered for this year's event. <br /> <br />This year's event will be honored with three firsts: the <br />registration of one electric car and two steam cars, and the first <br />female driver to participate. The Chamber of Commerce will be <br />offering to interested citizens authentic English clothing to wear <br />during the weekend events. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Gunderman is concerned that NSP's four year plan would ruin and <br />damage many residential trees located in New Brighton. Gunderman <br />feels a letter should be sent to NSP officials declaring the <br />Council's opposition to this plan. Childs will investigate the <br />situation. <br /> <br />The Northern Mayors Association will meet at the Spring Lake Park <br />City Hall on August 9th to discuss transportation issues. <br /> <br />The Ramsey County League of Local Governments has schedul ed a <br />meeting on August 16th. <br /> <br />The Association of Metropolitan Municipalities will meet on August <br />16th at 12:00 noon to review the Metropolitan Council budget. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Commissioner Don Salverda will attend the August 22nd <br />Council meeting to address issues of concern in New Brighton. <br /> <br />On August 29th the Chamber of Commerce wi 11 be sponsori ng a <br />breakfast meeti ng at the New Bri ghton City Hall.
