<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />April 25. 1989 <br /> <br />Page 14 <br /> <br />Public Hearing, continued <br /> <br />Sue Lincoln, President, Alana Club, acknowledged that a retaining <br />wall is proposed to be installed on this property. The Alano Club <br />requests to review these plans before construction begins. <br /> <br />Benke confirmed that final plans would be approved by the Council <br />before awarding construction contracts. Benke feels the retaining <br />wa 11 shoul d be constructed in a way that it woul d be somewhat <br />attractive. Gary Gray, SEH, said the retaining wall will be located <br />six feet behind the curbing. <br /> <br />Al Bauer, 557--5th Avenue NW and vacant lot owner, asked how many <br />retaining walls will be installed. Mr. Gray said there will be one <br />wa 11 on each corner. Mr. Bauer said both of his lots conta i ned <br />several large trees and asked if they would need to be removed. Mr. <br />Larson sai d an agreement coul d be negoti ated to either move or <br />protect these trees. <br /> <br />Mr. Bauer asked the future plans of the sidewalk. Proper said the <br />downtown area currently has five foot sidewalks flush with the <br />curbs. Staff proposes a six foot boulevard on 6th Street along <br />County Road E to allow for maintenance of these sidewalks. Proper <br />confirmed that the proposal is requesting to acquire an additional <br />seven feet of right-of-way. Benke verifi~d a sidewalk system is <br />being proposed to connect with County Road E-2. <br /> <br />Jim May, 447--6th Street NW, asked the amount of footage being <br />acquired from his property. Mr. Larson said the acquired footage <br />would be nine feet and is needed to build the retaining wall.
