Attorney Designation <br />Report 89-129 <br />Charl es LeFevere, New Bri ghton' s Ci ty Attorney, and John Dean, <br />Attorney, has left the LeFevere, Lefler Law firm to join the firm <br />of Holmes and Graven. Charles LeFevere's departure from the firm <br />has required a reevaluation of the City Attorney and future case <br />l(ad designation. <br /> <br />Benke recommends that Council defer the selection/appointment ofa <br />new City Attorney upon the recommendation of the City Manager, David <br />Childs. Benke commented on the need to consol idate some of the <br />legal responsibilities. <br /> <br />Brandt agrees that the City Manager should be instructed to make a <br />recommendation to the Council. <br /> <br />Gunderman feels the Council should make sU1gestions/recommendations <br />to the City Manager regarding the legal needs of the City. <br /> <br />Benke feels, due to the ongoing legal requirements of the City and <br />the timeframe needed for the City Manager to investigate <br />alternatives, a continuation of Mr. Orawz and Mr. Scallerud's <br />litigation services should be considered. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, REQUEST CITY MANAGER TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE <br />COUNCIL FOR THE SELECTION OF THE CITY ATTORNEY. <br /> <br />III 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br />
