Commission <br />Report 89-16 <br /> <br />Benke commented that he does not want the commission to ignore the <br />strengths of the Council/Manager form of government. <br /> <br />Buete 1 sa i one propasa 1 is that the County Manager waul d appoi nt <br />all depart ent heads and prepare the annual budgeting and planning <br />processes. <br /> <br />Benke feel that the long term advantages will outweigh the <br />potential or failure in the system. <br /> <br />Williams brought up an idea that was discussed at the RCLLG meeting <br />wh i ch woul d IIdeputi zell the Citi es to provi de vari ous servi ce <br />functions f the County with computer hook-ups for 1 icensing. <br />courts. an other functions. The RCLLG will be discussing this idea <br />with commi sion members in February. <br /> <br />Egan said hat eight years ago the City was involved in a computer <br />hook-up pr gram with the County. and it was an excellent system. <br /> <br />Benke than ed Buetel and Brandt for their presentations. <br /> <br />Announceme ts and U dates <br /> <br />Benke met ith Representative Pellow and discussed various issues <br />and concer s for the New Brighton Area. Pellow has been assigned <br />to the following committees: Commerce and Industry. a new Community <br />Stabilizat on Sub Committee, Economic Development with emphasis on <br />Tax Incre ent Fi nanci ng. Transportati on. and Hi gher Educati on. <br />Benke has ffered Pellow any additional information or assistance <br />from the C uncil or City Staff which he may need on any of these <br />subjects. <br /> <br />Wi 11 i ams ommented that the requests for doll ars are twi ce the <br />amount tha is avai 1 abl e; and it appears it wi 11 be a very tough <br />legislativ session. <br /> <br />On Wednesd y. January 18 at 7:30. the RCLLG will be meeting with the <br />Ramsey Cou ty legislative delegation in Room 200 of the State Office <br />Building.
