The society has received $75,000 <br />in match money ither from outright donations or for labor. The New <br />Brighton Eagle, Tri-City American Legion and the Lion's Club have <br />donated $30,00 as a whole. <br /> <br />Brandt feels t e Society has done an excellent job and is looking <br />forward to the completed project. <br /> <br />Motion by Benk , seconded by Williams, to CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes <br /> <br /> <br />Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Bran t, seconded by Williams, to APPROVE THE RESOLUTION <br />OF PUBLIC SUPP RT FOR THE NEW BRIGHTON DEPOT RENOVATION BEING NEW <br />BRIGHTON'S "CE EBRATE MINNESOTA 1990" PROJECT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nay s, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Busine s <br /> <br />John Kelley, C ief of Police, presented the request for a gambling <br />exemption for he Fridley Chamber of Commerce. The Fridley Chamber <br />of Commerce is holding their annual banquet at Robert Lee's <br />Restaurant on ebruary 3, 1989. As part of this event they wish to <br />hold a raffle. Kelley explained this application is for a gambling <br />exempti on, not a 1 i cense. An exempti on takes place over one to <br />three days as compared to a license which is generally a longer <br />period. <br /> <br />Brandt feels it is important to bring this type of event into New <br />Brighton and w uld encourage any other organizations to do so. <br /> <br />Benke agreed w'th Brandt's comment, and also asked if this request <br />is limited to he one-day event at Robert Lee's. <br /> <br />Kelley said t e application is for a one night raffle at Robert <br />Lee's. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Brandt to TAKE NO ACTION THEREBY <br />ALLOWING ISSU CE OF GAMBLING EXEMPTION FOR THE FRIDLEY CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE ON F BRUARY 3, 1989. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />Depot Renovation <br />Report 88-345 <br />Resolution 88-143 <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Exemption Permit! <br />Charitable Gambling <br />License <br />Report 88-346 <br />
