<br />I Counci 1 Me ting Minutes Page 4 <br />November 7 1988 <br /> Counci 1 continued <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Brandt as ed Ms. Schmitz, if the Committee was concerned of <br />scheduling the Town Hall meeting so close to the general election. <br />Ms. Schmit said this concern was brought up at their meeting, but, <br />as said be ore, no decision had been made by the committee. <br /> <br />Wi 11 i ams ommented, that one advantage to havi ng the Town Hall <br />Meeting be ore the Strategic Planning Session, is that. it would <br />provide t e council and staff with valuable input for their <br />discussion at the planning session. <br /> <br />Benke favo ed having the Town Hall Meeting in the spring and the <br />Community ecognition Dinner in the fall. <br /> <br />Larson fel both the Town Hall Meeting and the Community Recognition <br />Dinner pro rams were well received last year. <br /> <br />Brandt wou have feedback on the relationship between the <br />general election and the Town Hall Meeting, and also the timing <br />between t e Chamber1s Brainstorming Session and the Town Hall <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Ms. Schmit said, the Citizen Study Committee will meet on November <br />16th to re iew these issues, and will relate back to the Council the <br />committee' recommendations. <br /> <br /> <br />Director of Community Development, presented the <br />agreement wi th Welsh Compan i es . The proposed <br />deve 1 opmen is located just north of Mounds Avenue, East of 01 d <br />Highway 8 in Tax Increment District No. 16. <br /> <br />Welsh Com anies is proposing a 29,000 square foot office/showroom <br />to be lea ed to one tenant; the facility will have a market value <br />of approxi ately $1.1 million. <br /> <br />The deve 1 pment agl'eement woul d requi re the Ci ty to acqui re and <br />assemble the site and sell the property to Welsh Companies for $2.45 <br />per square foot with construction to begin in Spring 1989. <br /> <br />The devel per has required an environmental audit be done before <br />committing to this project, and is willing to split the cost with <br />the City or this procedure.
