<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeti 9 Minutes <br />October 11, 1 88 <br /> <br />Announcements and U dates continued <br /> <br />Benke explain d the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority is the <br />County Board of Ramsey County which constituted itself by its own <br />action as th Railroad Authority. The purpose is to plan and <br />implement lig t rail transit plans. The Authority has done a study <br />on the Univer ity 1-94 corridor between downtown Minneapolis and St. <br />Paul. Prese tly, the authority is developing a concept which will <br />direct the 10 g range activities. <br /> <br />The committee that are looking for representatives, are generally <br />advisory grou s which will put together a comprehensive Long Range <br />Pl an to pres nt to the County. The Ci ty has also been asked to <br />serve on the noka-Hennepin County Northeast Corridor Study, which <br />i ncl udes the rail whi ch wi 11 run thru New Bri ghton from Anoka <br />County. <br /> <br />Brandt asked if appointed or elected officials are required to <br />represent Ne Brighton in both of these requests. Williams <br />suggested as ing Ramsey County, if possibly a member from our <br />Planning Com ission could represent the City. <br /> <br />Benke said t e City has until November 21, 1988, to respond to the <br />County. Ben e suggested that Staff contact Ramsey County and find <br />out the requ rements and schedules of when these committees would <br />meet. <br /> <br />Sinda explained that many counties are involved in several planning <br />advisory gro ps and hopes an effort would be made to reconsolidate <br />this subject. Sinda also said, that the Hennepin-Anoka County Light <br />Rail Authori y appears to have the New Brighton area as a low <br />priority.
