Report 88-296

5 Ayes - 0 Na es, Motion Carried

Council Busin ss

Gary Ell is, L' quor Di rector, presented a request to remodel the
Municipal Liquor Powerhouse Bar. The three requested changes are:

1. Construction of an enclosed volleyball court adjacent to
the North side of the building. All work would be done
by the New Brighton Park Department, and materials and
supplies would cost $3,000.

2.

Re oval of the present front office area and replacing
it wi th an end "U" bar. Thi s wi 11 gi ve the bar a more
open feel and make the old 1 i quor store area a part of
the main bar. By opening up this area, it would provide
for more floor space during the peak periods.

3. Installation of a satellite dish to enhance television
reception of sporting events.

Benke asked i the $10,000 increase in revenues in 1988 listed is
accurate since the structure would not be done until the end of the
year. Ellis s id this figure should be revised to possibly $3,000-
4,000 in 1988, but future annual increases are projected at $30,000.
Benke suggest d the modification of these figures, and Sinda is
comfortable with these adjustments.

Williams asked Ellis if he feels these renovations would allow the
Powerhouse Bar to compete with several area establishments; and if
these changes ould retain or add clientele. Ellis explained these
changes would ake advantage of the extra parking space which would
allow for the onstruction of the volleyball court. The volleyball
court would ge erate clientele from volleyball leagues in the area,
and the addi ional seating would handle the peak periods on
Thursdays and eekends.

Council Business

Remodeling of
Powerhouse Bar
Report 88-297
Resolution 88-117
