I

Report #78- 231
September 6, 1978

ew

Ir;9hton

REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL

REVIEW OF SPECIAL USE PERMIT
BUILDING BLOCK NURSERY

PURPOSE

To consider extension of special use permit for the Building
Block Nursery.

BACKGROUND

The Building Biock, Nursery Schools and Day Care Centers, Inc.,
is operating a center in the Brighton Village Apartments,
902 West County Road "D". The school utilizes 3 apartment
units and is currently caring for 53 children.

The nursery school has been functioning since 1973 with special
use permits having been approved by the City Council in 1973
and 1975. The Council action of 1975 was to approve the
special use permit subject to Council review after three years.

We have received no complaints in ,regard to this operation from
neighbors in the apartment complex nor from the building
manager. The school has also been very cooperative in working
with the City Sanitarian in correcting some minor housing code
violations.

STAFF RECOMMEN~TION

Staff recommends that the special use permit (SP-62) for the
Building Block Nursery School be continued and re-reviewed in
three years or prior to that time should problems occur.

~~~ -/ ~JJ
/James F.
