<br />-8- <br /> <br />Bohling asked ~~nderson for his reasoning. <br /> <br />.?-\ndersonstated that there is a conflict. with the surrounding <br />resi~ential area and that from what he. pas found, this type of <br />business is most compatible in larger commercial areas such as <br />the NQrth Town Shopping Center and where it is well separated <br />from resiClentia1 areas. <br /> <br />Motion carrieCl, 6-1 (Bohling) <br /> <br />Parham stated that she felt the Planning Commission should <br />recommend to the Council that it investigate instituting a <br />licensing requirement for this type of business as a more appropri~t <br />control than a special use permit and that possible conditions of <br />such a license.b~ the hiring of an off-duty policeman and a <br />location in a larger commercial area. She also suggesten that <br />the Planning Commission send a letter to the HRn. suggesting the <br />need for a recreational facility of this type and asking that <br />it be considered for location in th~ downtown area. <br /> <br />The Building and Planning Coordinator noted that it might even be, <br />possible to put a certain minimum distance that such a business <br />must be located from a residential dis-trict as is (lone with <br />liquor establishments. <br /> <br />Fredrickson stated that she thought the licensing idea was <br />valuable. <br /> <br />Parham stated that we need clear standards for the applicant <br />to look at rather than reacting to each case as it comes up. <br /> <br />Motion by Parham, seconded by Partyka, to recommend to the City <br />Co~ncil that it investigate setting up a licensing procedure <br />for this and similar types of business and that it consider <br />the previously mentioned conditions. <br />7 ayes - 0 nayes - carried <br />
