November 18, 1975 Anderson reviewed the results of his investigation of the operation of fun centers in Fridley and Blaine and presented the Commissioners '\A1ith a memorandum outlining these results. Motion by Parham, seconded by Harty, to receive memorandum from DaviC1 ?\nderson dated November 17" 1975. 7 ayes - 0 nayes - carried Bob Paeteznick, 2443 Mounds .Avenue, stated that the question regarding the proposal is the traffic to and from the business not the ,operation of the business per se. Noting that the resident member of the committee established to investigate fun centers was not present, he stated that he thought this member-had visited the Fridley center and was favorably impressed , with its operation. Fredrickson stated-that she felt that if the application were) approved a limitation should be placed on hours of operation and that an off-duty policeman should be required on the premises. Mr. Neslund asked if it would be possible to have a trial run operating without the policeman to see if this will be necessary. Parham -noted that while the property in question is zoned B-3, it is basically a neighborhood area and not well suited for this use. She asked if other areas had been investigated for locating the business. Mr. Neslund stated that they have observed many kids frequenting the other businesses in the area like the 'Dairy Queen and noted that there is no Policeman present in these cases. He stated that he doesn't feel he should have to have policeman without showing the need. ,Anderson stated that based on the results of his investigation and the problems that have been encountered in oth~r locations, he doesn't think this business is appropriate in this area. Planninq Commission Recommendation (l1/18/15 ) : Motion by Anderson, seconded by Wickland, to recommend denial of SP-66.
