In the past there have been problems with storing this material
at the maintenance building site because the material has gotten mixed
with the grav~l and salt used on the public streets.

The P~blic Works Department salvaged approximately 500 tons of excess
sealcoat aggregate which is a clean pea size ro~k. This request
includes the stofageof that material at this site.

In terms of impact of this storage on adjac~nt properties, the piles
are low and not cl~arly visible to, adjacent properties. To the east
of thissfte is the railroad tracks, to the north and west is the
ball field and property of the Community ResourteCenter. The
property has a number of mature trees whi.ch provide screening for
this stored material. In addition, it appears because of the grade
change the piles of material will have very little impact on person's
traveling on Old Highway #8.

In regard to safety the piles are of a material that is firm and
consists of small particles. Therefore it appears that there is very
little potential for any safety hazards.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Board recommend approval of SP-87 by waiving
the reading and ad6pting the attached resolution.
