FINAL PLAT APPROVAL OF PL-168. 3 Ayes - 0 Nayes,Motion Carried Because the city considers the renewal of charitable gambling li- censes annually, Brandt believes it would be reasonable to require an organization applying for renewal of its license to provide us with a complete statement of income and expenditures for the pre- ceding year; asked to direct staff to prepare a resolution for consideration at the next council meeting. Brandt continued that we have adopted an informal policy for issuing licenses to commu- nity organizations; would like to see if it is working and how well it is working; it could be a condition for renewal that they submit that information. Benke believes we have had that information on an informal basis. Sinda is aware that we receive tha distribution numbers from th& Lions, but did not recall getting that information fronl other or- ganizations but they are required to provide that information to the State; we can ask the organizations to provide it to us also. Sinda reported that Roseville adopted an ordinance regarding char- itable gambling and Police Chief Kelley and LeFevere are reviewing that ordinance prior to council discussion. Williams believes it is a good idea; and, as Roger Franke stated, the State makes it quite clear if the city recommends no license, then there is no license. Benke stated the question should also ba asked as to whether or not we should establish criteria; and doesn't know if it would be to our advantage to be definitive. Brandt stated there may be competition for charitable gambling li- censes in the future and the information provided by an organiza- tion may have affect on the council's decision. Benke believes it is fair to define council's expectations. Sinda stated he did not know if it would be a good time to bring a resolution at the next meeting, but staff will have further infor- mation available then; Benke would rather take time and not hasten into a decision. LeFevere indicated our ordinance is out of date and needs to be revised.
