<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 22, 1988 <br /> <br />Williams thanked the representatives for taking time to update the <br />council this evening. <br /> <br />Kelley briefly reviewed the staff report concerning an application <br />for a Charitable Gambling License by Catholic Eldercare. <br /> <br />Williams did not believe the City of New Brighton had ever <br />received an application from an organization outside the City; <br />and, being impressed with the Lions Club and other organizations's <br />donations to the community, he would feel uneasy about supporting <br />this or any other organization based outside of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Larson believes the Chamber of Commerce was turned. down by the <br />Main Event and as long as we have a local organization that wants <br />to do this in the city, we should not permit an organization out <br />of the city to operate. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT A RESOLUTION DISAPPROVHJG THE APPLICATION BY CATHOLIC ELDER- <br />CARE FOR ^ CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSE. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Gunderman asked <br />Sinda indicated <br />tions are aware <br />apply for it. <br /> <br />how the Chamber of Ccnvnercd would be informed; <br />this is an informal process and local organiza- <br />that charitable g2mbli~g is here and that they can <br /> <br />Kelley indicated the only remalnlng qualified facilities in New <br />Brighton at this time are the Main Even~ and the Robert Lee Res- <br />taurant. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman to DIRECT STAFF TO CONTACT THE CHAMBER OF COM- <br />MERCE AND THE MAIN EVENT TO SEE IF AN AGREEfV1ENT CAN BE REACHED TO <br />FACILITATE THEM WORKING TOGETHER.
