TCMR

CLu8

P/GO/JdSI1~

The Twin City Model Railroad Club is often remembered for the

large 0 scale railroad it operated in the St. paul Union De?ot for

over 35 ,ears. This was open to the public and for no charge. The

Depot is now closed and we are using portable displays at the
Mall train shows and for other events. St. Pauls l25th birthday,
The New Brighton Special, Duluth and Rice Lake Wi. are included.

A goal of the TCMRC is to develop a new permanent display that
can beopen to the public on ~ regular basis. It should be an educational

and his~orical experience that will be enjoled by everyone. We have

develop ed a pI an in cooperation with New Brigh tion Area HistoriC?sl:~~" ~

Society members,Ga,le Bromander and Larry Vandenplas, and TCMRC

members, Pau1 Gruetzman and Scott Reed, that fulfill these requirements

and more. The plan involves an operating 0 Scale railroad featuring

the Ne~ Brightion Area housed in the basement of the Ne~ Brightion

Ares Historical Societl's Museum. The displal would include the

Stockyards,PJlleyards,Station, and Downtown. provisions have been

made to be able to generate all rail traffic for this important rail_

road junction.

o Scale, the size of the models, is 1/4 inoh = 1 foot or

1/48 of full size. Exam~le, a 40 foot box car would be 10 inches
long. This scale has proven most effective ov~r the lears for

public displays. Use of a smaller scale would be like looking from
an airplane qui te high up. ' Everlthing r~ay still be there, liut
you just can't see or enjol it.
TCf.1!lC contact s
Paul Gruetzman pres. @633-5722
Scott Reed Tres. @57l-2567

..

~
