<br />-2- <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Commissioner Helgeson questioned the integration of this <br />use in regard to parking and pedestrian traffic with the <br />park site. She stated that this project should be <br />closely coordinated with the park. <br /> <br />SP-l05 <br />7:35 P.M. - <br />8:40 P.M. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sande questioned safety and vandelism from <br />pedestrians on the site from the park property. She encourag- <br />ed fenching and good management coordinated with the park <br />personnel is to assure resident safety. <br /> <br />Chairman Willians commented to the applicant that at the time <br />final plans were prepared the PlanningCommission's comments <br />should be considered in more detail. <br /> <br />Chairman Williams stated that the parking should be concentrated <br />in one area to avoid separation by the railroad tracks. <br /> <br />Mr. Bromander stated that there would be little railroad traffic <br />on the display tracks and there would be two to three cars per <br />track displayed. <br /> <br />Chairman Williams noted that final plans should include plans for <br />pedestrian circulation. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Jerry Bensing area resident stating that in talking to residents <br />along Long Lake Road has not heard any concerns about the <br />noise of the whistle. <br /> <br />Mr. Graham stated that the whistles or flag man must be used at <br />street crossings. <br /> <br />Julie Beisswenger, area resident, commented that she strongly <br />supported the proposed use because of its educational value. <br /> <br />Commissioner Baker inquired of the Ramsey County staff the <br />possibility of this use expanding onto park property. <br /> <br />Ken Simon, Ramsey County, stated that the area north of the site <br />will be left natural and there will be day camp activities in <br />the area. He noted that there would be sometimes when this 30 <br />car parking lot could be used by the museum patrons. He <br />commented that there will be a gatehouse at the park entrance which <br />will cause some problem with coordinating the use of the access. <br /> <br />Bernie Edmunds, Ramsey County, remarked that it is a commendable <br />project but that the County feels it should stand on its own <br />in regard to access and parking. <br /> <br />Jerry Burlingham, Edina, commented that he felt this is a unique <br />opportunity for New Brighton and that he as a member of the Twin <br />City Railroad Club supported the project. <br /> <br />e <br />
