KEllEY <br />CHIEF OF POLICE <br /> <br />November 9, 1982 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Joan Archer, City Planner <br /> <br />VIA: <br /> <br />James Winkels, Director of c~~velopment <br />John Kelley, Chief of pOlice~..v. _-- <br />Police Response Data - Rice Creek Center Area <br /> <br />FRO~1 : <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />In order to assess the pOlice-related problems in the <br />area of Rice Creek Center, we established a study area <br />basically defined as 2400 block of Mounds Avenue west to <br />2100 block of 29th Avenue N.W., north to a point at the rear <br />of Walnut Court South, east along 22A Street N.W. to a point <br />above the beginning of the 2400 block of Mounds Avenue and <br />south to the point of beginning. <br /> <br />Data was collected for the period 0001 hours, 1 August 1982 <br />to 2400 hours, 31 October 1982 (91 days). City-wide, 1702 calls <br />for service were received; 83 (4.8%) were in the study area. <br />30% of the study area calls were officer initiated. This is a <br />relatively high percentage. <br /> <br />Of the calls in the study area: <br /> <br />7 (8%) were disorderly groups; 5 were "gone on arrival" <br />of the officer. <br />33 (39%) were thefts (9 bicycles, 7 shoplifting) <br />11 (13%) were unsecure buildings <br />2 (5%) were domestics <br />7 (8%) were traffic accidents <br />6 (7%) were public assists <br />5 (6%) were vandalism <br />5 (6%) were alarms/fires <br /> <br />76 (91%) <br /> <br />11 <br />,\ <br />, <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The remaining calls were single incidents of a variety of <br />misdemeanors. <br />
