<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 9, 1988 <br /> <br />With regard to Stockyard Days, Inc., Benke stated the group is an <br />independent incorporated body that, from a legal perspective, is <br />independent of the city council obligation and liability and be- <br />lieves they wish to remain so; and personally believes that is the <br />preferred way to go as it gives them autonomy and flexibility to <br />get things done quickly. With regard to the New Brighton Area <br />Historical Society, Benke stated they self-started as an indepen- <br />dent interest group which the city has endorsed and supported in <br />the form of attendance and financial support (annual grant). <br />Benke stated he would not object to considering whether or not <br />they would be an appropriate board or commission, but did not know <br />what the city would gain (might lose something if we tie them to <br />our structure legally).
