<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Prior to the meeting, City Clerk Margaret Egan swore in Robert Benke as Mayor and <br />Arlyn Gunderman as councilmember. <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was <br />held Tuesday, January 12, 1988, at 7~35 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth <br />Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke announced councilmember-elect had been detained and would be present <br />shortly. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Brandt, Gunderman, Larson (8:09 p.m.) and <br />Williams <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Henry Sinda, City Manager <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Erny Mattila, City Planner <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />John Kelley, Chief of Police <br />Gary Berger, Administrative Assistant <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Brandt, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 22, 1987, COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />C9mmission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with council consent, received the Environmental <br />Quality Commission minutes of November 11, 1987. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Mayor Benke welcomed members of the New Brighton League of Women <br />Voters to the council meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke gave the following State of the City statement: <br /> <br />One year ago we were looking forward to celebrating our Cen- <br />tennial anniversary as a community. Tonight I think I speak <br />for many of our friends and neighbors when I proudly state <br />that 1987 was a great success. Event after event surpassed <br />our fondest expectations. Support came from allover the <br />city, the state, and the world. City Hall dedication, our <br />visit to Brighton (England), Stockyard Days and the super <br />parade, the historical drama, the Antique Car Rally, and the <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Special Order <br />of Business <br /> <br />Welcome League <br />of Women Voters <br /> <br />State of the City <br />Address <br />
