COUNCIL CONSIDERATIONS <br />Sign Permit - Nordquist Sign Co. for Sambo's <br />April 10, 1973 <br />REQUEST: Consider authorization of building permit for <br />sign for 5ambo's Restaurant <br />LOCATION: 790 Co. Rd. D (Old Hwy. 8 and Co. Rd. D) <br />ZONING: I-1 <br />SIZE OF SIGN: 221 square feet of sign area <br />HEIGHI'OF SIGN: 35 feet <br />SIGN VALUATION: $4,000 (approx. ) <br />INSPECTION DEPARTMENT COMMENTS: <br />1. Under the existing sign ordinance, the required setback and height <br />requirements are met. <br />2. Section 14-040 Signs in Industrial Districts <br />(B) The total square footage of business sign area for each lot <br />shall not exceed five (5) square feet for each lineal foot <br />of frontage. <br />3. Based on sixty feet of frontage, 300 square feet of sign area <br />could be permitted. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE DISCUSSION: <br />At the Council Meeting of February 77, 1973, the Council reviewed the <br />same sign as the one currrently being requested as a part of VN-100. <br />At that time, the Council granted a variance for setback with the <br />stipulation that the sign be no more than 80 square feet, ?.0 feet high, <br />and have no more than ten items of information. Sambo's have moved <br />the proposed location so that setback requirements are now met, and <br />therefore no variance is required. <br />COMMUNITY BETTERMENT TASK FORCE COMMENTS: <br />Report of-Sign Committee Standards_as_ of February 27, 1973 <br />The Community Betterment Task Force Street Graphics sub-committee has <br />reviewed the subject request in relation to the proposed sign ordinance <br />and respectfully submits the following guidelines: <br />1. The allowable maximum height is based on the more liberal allow- <br />ances provided by the property, abutment on New Highway 8. That <br />height limitation is 20 feet. <br />2. The allowable area using the same guidelines is 80 square feet. <br />
