Elimination of the
"OPEN 24 HOURS" portion of the sign could, for instance, reduce
the items of information to below 10 and would aid in obtaining
maximum allowable height of the identification portion of the sign.
4. The sign shall not utilize any moving or rotating parts nor shall
it utilize flashing lights.
Tn justification of adherence to the guidelines established by the
proposed ordinance the following is submitted:
The physical location of the property does not justify unusual
considerations in height and area allowances. The property is
over 1600 feet from 35W. The argument for needed freeway visi-
bility should be considered only in those cases wherein the
property in question is within 600 feet of any freeway.
Community Betterment Task Force Report of April 4, 1973
The proposed sign, as submitted by Sambo's Restaurant does not meet the
guidelines recommended by the Street Graphics Subcommittee.
The location of the sign {along new "8") and zoning of the parcel would
allow a ground sign up to 20 (twenty) feet in height and $0 (eighty)
square feet in area. (Requested sign is 35 feet in height and approx.
220 plus square feet in area).
Items of information are also over the permitted number of ten. (There
are a total of 12 -- 10 in copy plus 2 in broken planes.)
In addition, Sambo's has indicated that the Sambo's portion of the
graphic revolves. This would specifically be prohibited (as would
flashing lights) in the praposed street graphics system.
