3
Mr. Johnson stated that it is 14' wide but that a closet
takes 2' of that width.
Noting that 20' is standard for a double garage, the Mayor
asked if he could get by with less than a 10' expansion.
Mr. Johnson noted that he has children with bicycles and
needs the extra space for storage.
Planning Commission Recommendation-(.9/17/74):
Motion by Harty, seconded by Parham to state that the shape
of the applicant's lot is sufficient hardship and to recommend
granting approval of VN-133.
Bohiing stated that he is not necessarily opposed to the
variance but that he is concerned that this is another instance
of a wish by,an applicant rather than a need to change his
property in a certain way. He also noted that there was no
neighbor to the rear, however, to be affect by this request.
Harty stated that the fact that there is no property owner
to the rear is an important factor and is the reason he made the
motion.
Parham stated that a single garage is unusual today and that
additional storage space makes the house more saleable and more
likely to be maintained.
Motion carried, 5-0
