VN-172, Pioneer Mutual Insurance Co. (~ambo's): <br />The City Planner reviewed his comments noting that Sambo's <br />was constr~?.cted after a variance was approved by the City Council <br />and that the proposed parking lot expansion would change the <br />condition of that variance. <br />Mr. Louis Terzich, representing the applicant, was present to <br />answer que~=tions. <br />Commissioner Brown asked how the expande~~ parking lot and <br />configuration would cure the parkinG problem. <br />Mr, Terzich noted that at present, there is a parking problem <br />and that many trucks are now parking i.~ the street. Mr. Terzich <br />stated that they would like to encourage trucks to park in the <br />lot. Mr. Terzich also stated he felt the three driveways were <br />needed to make traffic moi~ements safer. <br />Motion by ti•Jicvland, seconded by :~-ledved, to recommend approval of <br />VIJ-172 noting that the circumstances unique to the property are those <br />that were present at the time oy the original v~.riance approval and <br />that modification of the parking lot would bring Sambo's into <br />compliance with present par}cing requirements. Further, to-recommend <br />that only two driveways be permitted to the parking lot and that the <br />middle driveway shown on the site plan be removed. In addition, <br />it is recommended that Sambo's place signs to direct trucks to <br />the neca parking area. <br />Mr. Terzich stated that he felt the three driveways would be a <br />benefit to the traffic. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - carried <br />
