E.
Minneapolis, 1v7innesota 55418
May 19, 1 c~ 5
Mr. Barry P. Johnson
ISuil.dinry and. Planr~in~ Coordinator
City of Idcw Brighton
>~03 5th Ave. rr.ta.
Idew Brighton, Minnesota 55112
Aear Mr. Johnson:
You recently suggested we inspect any signage in the Polynesian Village
at New Brighton to asli for acceptance of the three signs by your City
Council, Planning and Toning Commission.
Ply original letter of April 7, 1975 quite completely spelled out the
importance to us of having visabl.e identification to the freeway as this
has prov~.d to be critical to renting at Polynesian Village. I1ot as critical,
but important to identification is a well designed attractive sign at the
entrance to Polynesian Village at 7th Street. This sign fits the proposed
schedule. of 35 square feat with an attached hanger at the bottom.
Idot quite as important i.s a 35 square foot sign at the entrance to Polynesian
V il.lage from 10th Street. This si};n was installed primarily as a convenience
to those driving in 10th Street. It is hidden from view but does notify
anyone coming that far that they are entering Polynesian Village and not
continuing ~t}bough on a maQjor street.
Regarding our sign on tree freeway; I have driven this a number of times
recently and do find., to make note of telephone numbers, vacancy information,
name, it is necessary to be quits close to the sign. '
Barry; 3*ou and I tallied about this the other day. A number of municipalities
},rxvc; :>~ilI1C181."L•iZ'I,eCI tii,c:ir signage for apr~riments uy occupants or units. I believe
?•linresroli~~ ;ets thoi,• l.r.:its at or:^ quarc fool,: Ii~r resident or unit.
Possibly you folks have tallied about something of that order. In
apartment rentals turnover is as critical. as occupancy and the larger
apartment dovelopnents must continually hate viseability to passing
prospects. Isle find those passing by are the most ODVlol13 prospects as the
fact they are drivin}; by indicates they have a reason f'or being in the area.
Unless there should be so:r.e objections I would appreciate continuing with
the signage we now have as it has proved effective but. would like to
start our Spring prxint-ups to keep everything fresh and current.
Your interest, .help and suggestions have, and al~~rays will, be appreciated.
WM~mtf
Sincerely,
-~..
Bill Tic Goni;*al !f
Acting Secretary
Polynesian Village Investment Co.
