CoL.x; mil Proceedings 4 <br />Ci ~y of New Brighton <br />.August 12, 1975 <br />~~ <br />The Attorney stated hearing was properly called VN-144 <br />Motion by ~:ebelein, seconded by Anderson to close heearing <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - carried 9x32 <br />Motion by 3~agon, seconded by Rebelein to find hardship 9e35 <br />exists anC`t to grant a variance for construction of a <br />gar-age ac,d:tion in compliance with plans signed by the <br />Buildi~zc acrd Planning Coordinator and dated August 12, 197.5 <br />5 ayes -~ 0 ~zayes - carried <br />Attorney stated hearing was properly called VN - 145 <br />Mr. Erland likberg, architect for Salem Covenant <br />ChurclY and member of the congregation, was present <br />tc~ di ,cuss the .request for the variance. 9:36 to <br />He noted that the tower was part of the master plan 9:49 <br />for the site and that the architecture fits with the <br />architecture of the existing and proposed building. He <br />noted that because of the unique architecture of the <br />church without a cross there is some question if this <br />building is, in fact, a church. <br />Councilman Eagon asked why the tower had to be 92 feet high <br />Mr. Ekberg indicated that the tower was designed to meet <br />the architectural scale of the building <br />Motion by Fisher, seconded by Anderson to close hearing <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes- carried <br />Motion by Fisher, seconded by Anderson to find a~ <br />hardship exists and to grant variance as requested. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes- carried <br />The Attorney noted to the Council that there were Community <br />no legal requirements in the case of this hearing, Development <br />but that published notices were in the newspaper Grant <br />The Building and Planning Coordinator reviewed the Application <br />background for granting of application, but noted to <br />the Council that the City was notified by HUD that <br />there is no possibility of funding 9:50 to <br />Motion by-Eagon to close hearing 9x58 <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes- carried <br />No action taken by Council <br />New Business <br />Motion by Anderson, seconded by Eagon to receive letter Siltation <br />from Edward J. Hance, dated July 29, 1975 regarding Long Lake <br />siltation problem north end of Long Lake <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - carried <br />Mr. Hance, representing Long Lake Lagoon Association, <br />was present to discuss the problem. He stated that there <br />has been a siltation problem on the lagoon far some <br />time but that the problem new is moving into the lake. <br />
