Coua~cil Proceedings City of New Brighton - Jan 27 1976 Councilman Hardt asked whether the ground sign could be replaced with the wall sign as recommended by the Planning Commission on the south side of the building. The Building and Planning Coordinator responded that this is not possible and that a 4 sq ft directional sign would be permitted Motic°~ by Bromander, seconded by Vverdouschegg to approve VN-15~ with the following conditions: 1. To allow wall signs on each street side saying New Brighton Furniture, Inc. limited to 40/ of selected signable area. 2. To remove the sign on south side of the building and allow it to be replaced by a 4 sq. ft. sign saying main entrance 3. To remove the ground sign 4. That the sign at Eddies Corner Bar is permitted to continue as a non-conformity but is not intended to be included in the variance being approved. 3 ayes - 2 naves (Fisher, Hardt) - motion failed Motion by Hardt, seconded by Fisher to approve VN-152 with the following conditions: 1. Allowing the sign reading New Brighton Furniture, Inc. on each street side of the building said sign meeting the limit of covering no more than 40% of the selected signable area. 2. Removal of the existing wall sign above the entrance on the south side of the building and replacement by a sign meeting ordinance requirements as to size and saying Main Entrance. 3. Removal of projecting sign and wall sign over the door to Eddies Corner Bar. 4. Allowing the existing wall signs on each side for Eddies Corner Bar to remain but to reduce them to saying only Eddies Corner Bar and the 7-Up logos. 5. Permanent window signs must be made conforming to the ordinance limitation on items of information. 6. Remove the ground sign on the property Motion by Senden, seconded by ti^3erdouschegg to amend the above motion by removing conditions 3 and 5 5
