e
UN-156 _ -~_
7: '.That certified excerpts of the minutes be recorded with:
the propertyo
' S ayes, 0 Hayes - motion carried"
At the ime of this variance approval there was some confusion
on the part of the applicant as to the exact meaning of condition
~4. The movFr and seconder of the.~above motion indicated that
condition d~4 meant that the existing sign along I-35[7 was to be`
mace to conform. Essentially,. this could be accomplished bIt
-removing the lower telephone number panel. Informed of the intent
of cond ion number,, the 'applicant indicated that the telephone
:number panel whd been very instrumental in attracting customers
o the property and that .'they could not exercise the variance
under the conditions applied. The applicant did not exercise the
variance within 189 days and as such the variance is now void."
The applicant is thus requesting a second ground sign fir the
Fifth Street side to the E-Z Mini project (see attached sketch
for proposed-location) and, in addition, is requesting that the
existing sign along I-35~n7 be allowed to remain as is.
The proposed sign would be approximately 14' x 9', consisting,
of two double faced planes. One plane would identify the E-Z
Mini Storage property while the second plane would consist of
changeable tenant panels, The proposed location of the sign is
34 feet south of 5th St. LVW and 15 feet east of the E-Z Mini
Storage private driveway,
The applicant has indicated in his letter that the variance
is needed in order to direct customers to the site. Because
of the size of the site and because the existing sign. and buildings-
are set back a considerable distance from Fifth Street, the applicant
has. indicated that there is a hardship for his tenants because-
their offices are difficult to identify; there is a hardship
for customers because it is difficult to locate the E-Z Mini
.entrance; and, because there is a problem involving those drivers
who mistakenly enter the E-Z Mini driveway thinking they are on
Third 'venue.
Planning Commission Consideration (May 18, 1976) :
See attached sheets for Planning Commission Consideration
for the E-Z Mini Stoarga VN-156.
