Council Proceedings. 5 <br />City of New Brighton '~ <br />:~~. 12, 1976 <br />.~~' <br />Councilman Werdouschegg asked whether staff had led <br />.the applicant to believe that he could proceed with <br />sign installation. <br />'The.Planner stated he had not spoken with the app~.icant <br />until after the violation. had occurred and Was unaware <br />~of any discussion which might have occurred between. the <br />applicnnt and the building ,inspector. <br />Mayor Bromander asked what the life expectancy was <br />of the southerly billboard. <br />Mr. Bell responded that elimination of any sign would <br />be a hardship on the station. <br />Motion by Werdouschegg, seconded by Hardt to close hearing. <br />5 ayes - 0 Hayes - carried Close <br />Hearing <br />Motion. by Hardt, seconded by Fisher to approve VN-164 <br />to allow the self-serve si~nand northerly billboard <br />to remain subject to the following conditions: <br />1. That the southerly billboard (Savingest Gas'Bllboard) <br />be removed in six months. <br />2. That the remaining signs on the. property be brought <br />into conformance within 5 years. <br />3. That the applicant present in writing to the City <br />an agreement to accept and comply with tYe <br />variance conditions. <br />Motion by Senden, seconded by Werdouschegg to amend the <br />motion by requiring that both billboards be removed. <br />2 ayes - 3 Hayes (Fisher, Bromander, Flardt) -motion failed <br />Motion by Fisher, seconded by Werdouschegg to amend the <br />main motion by requiring that the northerly billboard be ' <br />removed within 18 months. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Fisher Aye Hardt Naye _ <br />Senden Aye Bromander Naye <br />Werdouschegg Aye <br />Motion carried <br />Motion by Bromander, seconded by Hardt to include in .the <br />main motion permission to install a lo~~o in the selected <br />signable area for the self-serve sign subject to a1 L <br />sign code requirements being met as to that selected <br />signable area. <br />5 ayes - 0 Hayes- carried <br />
