-2-

This compromise, we feel, should satisfy our needs of getting the
buildings up and ready for use and still provide you with''the control
of the situation until we can come up with an agreement over our 10 year
plan. We realize that this doesn't quite fulfill your regquirements at this
time, but it is the best that we can do and it still provides you the
control over the situation to quarantee to your satisfaction that we fulfill
your full requirements.
The architect will, on Monday the 22nd, be contracted to draw up the
plans which hopefully you should receive by September. If.'this solution to
the problem is found satisfactory by you, then at our hearing on August 23rd,
we hope that you will give us the needed permission necessary to begin
building.
We also ran into another snag.; which I would like you, also, to be aware
of, and that is that the week of September 12th, is our annual technical ,
committee meetings of the American Wood Preservers Association. We, therefore,
ask for your permission to build the buildings, subject the use of these
buildings to your approval of our plans, and to hold a hearing in regard to
our 10 year plan on September 27th, the earliest possible date for all of
these conditions to be met.
We hope that you can understand our extreme need to begin construction
at once, yet we hope that you are also aware that we are doing our utmost to
satisfy your requirements as quickly as is humanly possible. Unfortunately,
we are only human and we are unable to fulfill our promijes in the time available,
except in the manner explained above. We look forward to' the next hearing,
whereby, we hope to reach a full understanding by all iniregards to the future
of our New Brighton manufacturing facility, and of course to the future of
the City of New Brighton.
Thank you for. your time and effort.
Sincerely, f
The MacGillis & Gibbs Co.
Mre7i Robert E Norgard Mr. Harold I.-.Btimby
e President Regional Sales Manager
New Brighton, 'Mn.
