FOR SIGN VAR2ANCESa .Our conforming to the Zoning Code in itsentirety as it relates to SIGNS - Chapter 14 _of the Zoning Code is very difficult because of the design of our building. The front of our building would have a maximum signable area of 40 feet x 2 feet = 80 square feet and we would be allowed 20 percent of this area, or 16 square feet, in which to display our sign. The building front has such a small signable area that we would elect not_ to display a wall sign in this area. In Chapter 14 - Section 14-200 - Subsection (b} (l,} of the Zoning Code it states that wall signs may be-used on rear or-side yards abutting a freeway,. but that these signs may not exceed the size of the sign allowed for the front of the building - which in our case would be 16 square feet. - Our traffic exposure is our side yard - on Interstate Highway 694 and our rear yard - on Interstate Highway 35W, and we would ask for allowance to exceed the allowed signable area as noted in Section I4-200 - Subsection (b} (l.} so that we might make maximum use of our exposure. We have submitted a sketch of the South wall of our office-shop. building, that with the window covered over would allow a sign- able area of 47 feet x 11 feet equaling 517 square feet. Our sign for this building would be (2} square foot and (1-1/2}_ square foot letters as noted on the sketch and wil~lbe either fiberglass or painted marine plywood and attached by screws directly to the building wall. These letters by size noted on the diagram would cover 118 square feet of our 517 square foot signable area. Thesmaller letters noted on our scaled drawing would be 18 inches x 14 inches.
