We would propose to paint onto the East facing wall of our
metal repair shop, and this faces Highway 35W - the items
as noted on our sketch and these would be painted in (3)
square foot letters. This signing would cover 162 square
feet of 864 square feet available, so less than the 20
percent that could be allowed.
We must advertise our place of business and should take
advantage of the vehicle traffic on the abutting Interstate
Highways (this high traffic count was one of the prime
reasons we: purchased this land) and the signing we are
proposing is neat, sight appealing, and can be maintained
well over the years and cvi11 conform in color to our newly
painted buildings, The cost of our sign project is in
excess of $2,000.00 as is being presented to us.
We would ask for consideration to exceed the 20 percent
usage of our office-shop wall that abutts Interstate 694
as much as distance from the highway to our wall is in excess
of 400 feet, and these slightly larger letters would be
easier to see. We would be requesting 22.5 percent approxi-
mate rather than the 20 percent indicated in the Zoning Code.
Item No„ 13
OTHER REQUIRED DATA
A. An abstracter's certificate has been filed previously -
August, 1976, and the ownerships have not changed.
We would also request permission to implant a 4 inch x 4 inch
post in our front yard and display on this post double facing
metal signs to mark our entrance driveway. We would implant
this post on our front yard at the property line just North
of our driveway. We would want to display this sign until
June, 1977 at about which time our landscaping will be completed
and we will be ready to propose our front yard plans and remove
our temporary sign. We have no way to mark our entrance now,
and this is very difficult and unsafe condition for the people
using our driveway. We will bring a sign to the meetings to
demonstrate our proposed temporary sign.
Our enclosed sketch No. 3 shows location of the non-conforming
billboards bn our property. The contract for these billboards
was signed prior to our purchase of the property and vae did
have to accept the terms. This contract will expire on
~~~~ ~ ~• /9 yL__~Y_~ and prior to that time we would meet
with the Planning Co.-nmission and Council to discuss the dis-
position of these billboards.'
