Page 3.
VN-181
,.
> ~ ~ zoning code in providing one ground sign per street entrance.
Were the configuration of the individual posts other than as
presented (i.e., set in different corners of the property, wording
identifying a different business, etc.) it would be difficult to
construe this as one sign.
A somewhat negative situation that deserves attention is that
the four posts, if connected, would create a non-conformity in
that more than eleven items of information would be present. This
is because each word constitutes one item and each sign plane above
one constitutes 3 additional items of information. This imaginary
situation would create 3 additional planes and therefore 15 total
items of information.
As the non-conforming billboards are accounted for through the
applicants earlier variance approval the request would also
appear to be consistent with Section 14-230 (e) in regards to non-
conforming signs.
Planning Commission Recommendation:
At their January 17th meeting the Board of Review adopted
the attached resolution #78-2 in regard to VN-181.
STAFF RECOMMENI~TION
Staff recommends approval of VN-181 subject to certain conditions
by waiving the reading and adopting the attached resolution.
.ate' '~~"~ ~
Gary Hu t, C'ty Manager
.--~ _
~.~--~
James F.
