The pr imary~objection of the property owner to the south-was thatthe subdivision would not be in character with the neighborhood. Mayor'Senden noted that he has been incontact with theproperty owner to-the north"and that this neighbor is presently investgat- ing the development of-his land and wants.. to determine how the subdivision of Ca-rlsori's land. will affect his property.. Also, if the property owner to the north sold. Carlson the. needed..- acreage 'in order to create lots of required width, the house presently located at the site would still impair proper subdivs- ion of_the land. Therefore the property owner.. to the north is still in strong opposition. Carlson indicated that he was willing to dedicate part of his property-for the road and that the concern over the road was not warranted. Rick Brickner, a neighbor to the south, on Iot 37, has a lot that is only 55 feet in width. He was not opposed to the sub- division and he stated he has no problem with his lot that has a substandard width. Medved remarked-that the subdivision would result in smaller lots than is indicated by the general character of the neighborhood in light of -the amount of dry land available on-the site. He also commented that he has not seen any hardship on the applicant as it relates to the nature of_the land. Brown stated that the Board of Review .had previously recommended to the City Council that the variance application be approved, but since that .time-several issues have been brought to light. The City Council previously took no action on the matter until.. these concerns were- investigated. Brown then read the resolution that had been prepared by staff. (See attachment).- Brown moved, Williams seconded to approve and submit the resoZut-ion to .the City Council.
