1 I 1 Council Meeting Minutes May 12, 1987 Motion by Brandt, seconded by Blomquist, to AMEND THE 1987 CITY BUDGET TO INCLUDE A $2,000.00 EXPENDITURE FOR UPDATING ZONING ORDINANCE PARKING REQUIREMENTS. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried Brandt reviewed the history of the franchise fees and explained the current need for updating the costs, which is in accordance with the original agreement (to re-evaluate the fee structure in about three years). Brandt reported New Brighton will gain an incremental strength in voting, but will have to pick up a slightly larger share of the cost of the Commission1s activities. If a city does not adopt the proposal, the effect would be of terminating their part of the joint powers agreement. Brandt recommended approval of the resolution and moved, seconded by Blomquist, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION AMENDING BY SUBSTITUTION ARTICLE VI, SECTION I, AND ARTICLE X, SECTION 3, OF THE NORTH SUBURBAN CABLE COMMISSION JOINT AND COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF A CABLE COMMISSION. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried Announcements and Updates Benke announced a North Suburban Cable Commission representative and an Acting Mayor position need to be filled because of Schmidt1s resignation. Motion by Williams, seconded by Benke, to APPOINT DANA BRANDT AS DELEGATE TO THE NORTH SUBURBAN CABLE COMMISSION WITH A TERM EXPIR- ING DECEMBER 31, 1987. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried As Brandt had expressed an interest in the position of Acting Mayor, motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to APPOINT DANA BRANDT AS ACTING MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON WITH A TERM EXPIRING DECEMBER 31, 1987. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried Other vacancies which will need to be filled are Alternate Dele- gate to the North Suburban Cable Commission and Economic Develop- ment Commission; these vacancies will be discussed at a later date.
