Holmes, Jr., President of the New <br />Br ighton Lions Club. <br /> <br />Holmes recapped the Lions Club generosity to va~'ious deserving <br />groups in the City of New Brighton and the community at large; <br />commented as a past City employee he, personally, understands the <br />necessity of a physically fit police force. Holmes announced the <br />donation by the Lions Club of $5,000 to be used for physical <br />fitness equipment to be installed in the police department area of <br />the new City Hall. <br /> <br />.',::: <br />, .,: <br /> <br />Benke thanked the Lions Club for the support given the City of New <br />Brighton and also praised the Lions club work in so many worthy <br />projects in the community. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />John Hearn, Commander of Tri-City Legion Post, introduced Marv <br />Moe, Finance Officer, Millie Moe, Chaplain, Joe Wazlak, Club <br />Manager; commented the American Legion is pleased to serve the <br />communities of Saint Anthony, Columbia Heights, and New Brighton; <br />announced Saturday, February 14 will mark the end of the first <br />year in their New Brighton facility. Hearn outlined some past and <br />present community projects of the Tri-City Post. Commander Hearn <br />presented the Police Department a check for $2,500 for bullet- <br />proof vests.
